Mark John Isola is a native New Englander. After having dropped out of high school, he received his PhD in English from Tufts University. His fiction has appeared in the magazines Mandate and Playguy. It has also appeared in several print anthologies, including Skin & Ink and Pay for Play. While posted on the web, his stories were read by over a million readers worldwide. Before We Kiss: A Prelude for Inky Flesh and Inky Flesh: Stories Written by the Body are his first fiction books.
MJ’s scholarly essays have been published in the books Generation X Professors Speak: Voices from Academia, Boys’ Love Manga: Essays on the Sexual Ambiguity and Cross-Cultural Fandom of the Genre, Queers in American Popular Culture, and others. It has also been published in the Journal of Homosexuality and has been presented at academic conferences, like the Modern Language Association, the American Literature Association, and other literary and cultural studies conferences.
Currently teaching English, cultural studies, and writing at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, Mark John divides his time between Boston and Provincetown, Massachusetts.
